VirusScan License Agreement

You must read and agree to the following terms before you can begin the download.

This software is provided to you under an agreement between The Ohio State University and Network Associates, Inc. Under the terms of the license agreement, current faculty, staff and students may use this software while they are associated with the university. This license is nontransferable. When you are no longer a current faculty or staff member, you must leave the software with your department and/or remove all copies from your computer.

This license is obtained on a two-year term. Should the Office of Information Technology (OIT) not renew this license, you agree to remove all copies of the software in your control and discontinue all use.

The software is for use on The Ohio State University main and regional campuses and on your home computer. You are authorized to install this software on one computer on campus and at home unless specifically authorized by OIT as a departmental computer support representative.

If you are authorized to install multiple copies, you must advise anyone who is using or receiving any of those copies that they are prohibited from distributing, modifying, or making copies of the software, and you must supply them with the terms of this agreement. You also agree to provide their names to the IT Service Desk at 025 Central Classrooms to record the distribution. You can provide this information by writing to Customer Services at 8help@osu.edu or by calling 688-HELP. If you are placing copies into a student or other departmental lab setting that you manage, you agree to report the number of installed copies to OIT as above.

This software is protected by both United States copyright laws and international treaty provisions. Each installed copy of the program is registered with the Office of Information Technology as a function of your agreeing with these terms. Archival copies of this software may be made for the sole purpose of backing up your software.

Download VirusScan

First read the information that follows about downloading and installing the software and then signify your acceptance of the preceding license terms by clicking below.

Because of licensing restrictions, you'll be connected to a secure sever once you click on the "I agree" link above. You'll be required to enter your OSU Internet username and password to access this server.

Install VirusScan

Note: As you're downloading the install file, the type of information that appears on your screen varies depending on the browser you're using.

  1. After the download is finished, uncompress the self-extracting setup file.

  2. Locate the folder where you downloaded the VirusScan software and double-click the file vscanspy8_7.exe. Click Open and then click OK to extract the files.

  3. When prompted for an "extract to" directory, use an empty temporary folder on your hard drive.

  4. Open the folder containing the extracted files, and double-click Setup.exe.

  5. A VirusScan Enterprise Setup screen will be displayed. Click Next> to continue.

  6. When the End User License Agreement screen appears, select 2 year subscription.

  7. When the appropriate End User License is displayed, click on I accept if you agree to the terms. Click OK to continue.

  8. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

  9. After the installation is finished, click About in the VirusScan Console Help menu to confirm it displays VirusScan Enterprise + AntiSpyware Enterprise 8.7.Oi.

Note: It is important to read the section on configuration of AntiSpyware in the "AntiSpyware Product Guide" available with the download. This will allow you to make additional changes to enable the module to be of most value in your case.
